Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) celebrated the 23rd of April National Sovereignty and Children's Day with great enthusiasm and excitement in Susuz Village through the Young Volunteers in the Village program conducted under the Village University Project.
The events were organized with contributions from various student communities of MAKÜ. While the MAKÜ Folk Dance and Modern Dance Community mesmerized the audience with the Teke Zeybeği performance, the LÖSEV Community left a meaningful mark by painting hands with children and pressing them onto a white cloth. The fun scientific experiments organized by the Children and Science Community allowed children to both learn and have fun. The Youth and Sports Community and the Don't Underestimate Children Community added color to the festive atmosphere with face painting activities. The Gastronomy Community contributed to both the creativity and delightful moments of the children by having them draw shapes on cookies.
Additionally, a music group consisting of MAKÜ students gave an unforgettable concert to the children by playing guitar and singing songs. The celebrations continued with the viewing of the 23rd of April performances prepared by the children.
MAKÜ Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Hakan Öner, who attended the program, also joined the students and the villagers to celebrate this meaningful day with them.
We, as the MAKÜ family, extend our heartfelt thanks to the headman of the village, Hasan Karatay, for their sincere hospitality, to the Principal of Susuz Primary and Secondary School, Mehmet Kurt, for their unwavering support throughout the event, to the hospitable people of Susuz, and to our cheerful children, the true heroes of this special day, whose smiles never faded.
