The 'Village University' project, which was implemented within the scope of social contribution projects by Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) and holds the distinction of being the first of its kind in Turkey, continued in Susuz Village, located in the Bucak district of Burdur.

Within the framework of the project, the Ramadan events organized by the MAKÜ Turkish Music State Conservatory Folk Dance Department attracted great interest. The event, enlivened with a meddah performance, Sufi music concert, and whirling dervish shows, received significant participation from the villagers.

Speaking before the event, MAKÜ Turkish Music State Conservatory Director and Folk Dance Department Head Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zeynel Turan expressed their happiness in keeping the art of Meddah, one of the important elements of traditional culture, and Sufi music alive in Susuz Village. Turan said, "We are here to make the Ramadan nights even more meaningful and aim to provide our people with an unforgettable night."

Within the scope of the Village University project, 25 villages connected to the center of Burdur were selected as pilot regions. The trainings to be provided by MAKÜ's expert academic staff in various fields will continue regularly in the designated villages.
